NASCAR’s top 35: Who’s in and who’s out?

The first five races have come and gone and last year's owners points no longer can save this year's drivers. So who's locked into the Top 35 for Martinsville and who will have to race their way in?

Joey Logano is in, despite some struggles. The No. 20 is 34th in owners points, so he's teetering on the edge, but he can breathe easy next week.

David Gilliland and TRG Motorsports have been a feel-good story so far this season. The upstart team doesn't have a lot of money (or paid employees) but they're locked in, currently in 35th place.

Scott Speed's Toyota is 36th and Aric Almirola in the No. 8 is 37th. Remember the No. 8's potential to run the full season was in doubt during the preseason. Dropping out of the top 35 can't help that.

Travis Kvapil was driving the No. 28, and that car is in 39th place after finishing 18th in Bristol. The team, though, is shutting down. The first of probably many casualties of sagging sponsorship dollars.
